About me
I'm Denizhan Toprak, a computer engineer specialised in game development, based in İzmir, Türkiye. I've worked with game studios and software companies, remotely and in the office, which strengthened both my technical and my collaboration skills.
What I enjoy most is creating tools and robust system designs that make projects more enjoyable, efficient and scalable to work on. Every plugin on this site started that way.
Experience
Gameplay Programmer
Tigerroll Studios · United Kingdom, remote · Dec 2025 – present
- Developed core gameplay systems for MMORPG experiences, including player-to-player and NPC interaction frameworks built on Unreal Engine 5's Gameplay Ability System (GAS).
- Led the implementation of a cross-platform, gamepad-friendly UI architecture using Unreal's Common UI framework.
- Organised Figma workflows between design and engineering, with a clear pipeline for turning UI designs into interactive in-game UI.
- Designed complex NPC AI with State Trees: combat, dialogue systems and NPC-to-NPC interactions.
Lead Developer, indie game project
Self-directed · Dec 2023 – present
- Building a full-scale game: gameplay systems, AI, UI, tools and core mechanics.
- Designed a modular, scalable architecture in C++ on top of Unreal Engine's frameworks.
- Built custom interaction, combat, inventory and tooling systems, later turned into the standalone plugins documented here.
- Built a cross-platform UI framework on top of Epic's Common UI.
- Handle everything from planning and prototyping to optimisation, multiplayer beta builds, unit tests and technical documentation.
C++ Developer
Archinord Software · Türkiye, office · Sep 2024 – Jul 2025
- Led the development of several architectural visualisation projects in Unreal Engine 5.
- Created engine tools that pull live data from AWS (prices, media and other metadata) to show up-to-date residence information to users and developers.
- Built a DLC and patch system on AWS to update client projects, cutting development time and shortening the feedback loop.
Software Developer
Retter Business Services · Türkiye, remote · Jul 2021 – Jul 2023
- Wrote Node.js backend methods for retail web projects (login, orders, cart and payment) running on AWS.
- Joined projects such as Pınaronline, Jotun Usta Fırçalar, Koçailem and Unishop from the start, documenting and resolving issues.
- Built generic automated backend tests, mainly in n8n, to catch bugs earlier and keep projects stable.
- Managed tasks in Jira and wrote documentation for Retter's in-house web development tools.
Plugins
Each of these began as a system my own projects needed. The docs cover setup and usage in detail.
- Staged Interaction System: a stage-based approach to gameplay interactions, where each interaction state is handled independently and modularly in multiplayer games using State Trees.
- Ability Queue Task System: builds on Epic's Gameplay Ability System with a non-destructive, customisable input queue for fluid action transitions.
- Nested Inventory Architecture: an object-based, replicated grid inventory where any item can hold other items as a container, built on Data Registry, Gameplay Tags and instanced data fragments.
- Easy Skeletal Mesh Merge Async: merges skeletal meshes into one at runtime in networked games, to optimise players, NPCs and weapons.
- Easy Ability Set System: grants and clears gameplay abilities in bulk, with automatic input binding and effect sets.
- Dynamic Input System: binds, modifies and manages input mappings at runtime based on game context, and shows players the matching prompts (for example, LMB to Attack).
